You might have noticed a new sub-heading on the website:
I think when I was 19, in my freshman year of college, I made a new year’s resolution to read 100 books in a year. This didn’t happen. Every year since then, it’s been in the back of my head to read 100 books, and it never happened.
This year, I’m going to actually try and do it.
Is it a good idea to speed-read 100 books if you’re not going to learn anything from them? No. There’s a line I wrote a couple years back that sums it up nicely:
“Trying to speed read 20 books at once is like going to an art museum and sprinting through the halls to see all the paintings as quickly as possible. You can technically do it. You’ve also completely missed the point.”
But this goal has been eating away at me for years now. So in 2023, I’m going to do it. And to prove I’m doing it, it’s going to be in public. After each book is finished you’ll get to see my notes and thoughts on it, right here.
Since I don’t want to spam Double Torus readers with 100 different posts on books, they’ll be in a sub-blog called Mike Reads 100 Books. You will have to subscribe separately, but it is completely free.
We’ll see how much I can get done in the next 11 months. Hope you enjoy.
